HISTORY OF SUNSET TEXAS

James's earliest memories of BBQ started back in Coppell, Texas, where many family backyard shindigs were shared with friends and neighbors. Eventually, he moved to Austin, Texas, the MECCA of TEXAS BARBECUE, honing his pitmaster skills during those long 12 to 14 hour smokes - low and slow. 

In 2016, James dreamt of life filled with Aloha spirit and left behind heat of the Lone-Star State and landed in Hawaii, his wife Modesta's home state.

This began their journey to bring authentic Texas BBQ to Hawaii. Not only were they expanding their business, they were embracing the "ohana spirit" and sharing their passion and food. From the Texas heat to the warmth of Hawaii they found a new home and a life infused with aloha.
